KR964UT Came with Windows XP

I noticed an earlier thread that someone had purchased the KR964U direct from HP and it came with XP, I wanted to note that I ordered mine from MoreDirect (shipped directly from HP) and it came with XP as well, also came with 4 CDs, 2 Vista and 2 XP.

Works great, I love this little PC. I wish they had the 3-cell for sale, I really would like to purchase one just to remove the protruding battery and use it only when needed. That 6-cell is really annoying and since I usually have an outlet where I use this the most (on my couch, lol) I can easily handle the short term 3-cell for most occasions, using the 6-cell when traveling. But really that is my only grip.

I got mine for $774.99. Its the 1.6GHz w/2GB RAM and 160GB HD. I originally ordered the one with the 120GB 7200rpm hd, but they didn't have it in stock, I'm much happier with the 160GB 5200rpm however, since I'd imagine it produces less heat and takes less voltage than the 7200rpm does, though the effect on the battery is probably minute.

Since I've received it, I uninstalled the AOL toolbar and the office suite (I have my own copy under volume licensing), I'm pretty happy this didn't come loaded with crap.

Everyone who's been by my office loves the feel of it too, I'm much happier with the professional and sturdiness of this mininote. The screen resolution is what sold me though, I was considering the MSI Wind, Asus EEEpc and the like.

So to recap;
- KR964UT cost me $774 and came with Windows XP Preinstalled from MoreDirect
- Vista & XP CDs (with respective driver CDs) came in the box
- Windows XP Service Pack 2 w/IE6 was preinstalled, currently updating

congrats on the laptop i got mine with vista at a store and i did install windows xp it ran nice but i ended with windows 2000 because to be honest it does the job that i need it to do perfect. i am running 2 gigs of ram and 120 gig drive like you said this thing is awesome. i do think people are really not giveing it enough credit because vista is slowing it down and people dont know how to downgrade or don't want to do all the work, but once they do it this little laptop is great. i did preorder the IBM laptop the 10 inch screen one for my brother cant wait to see what that thing will do. again good luck with it and enjoy it
