I keep bluetooth on my start list in XP, but out of my Programs\Startup
You might disable bluetooth device, Device Manager, right click, disable.
Sometimes it works to disable the bluetooth service.
I don't have XP SP3 loaded to check, but those are ideas for discussion.
Please advise if you already tried it, maybe you found a bigger problem?
Good luck.
thats how we've disabled Wifi on a couple of dodgy laptops at work, they DO have the switch on the front which turns em off but for some reason we still get interferance with it when trying to configure radio links etc. disabling in Device Manager tho makes it all go away (o:
Dont disable the WLAN and Bluetooth inside XP
Start up HP,
tap F10 to go into the BIOS
Go to System Configurations
Go down to Built in Device Configuration Options and hit enter
As you can see here. you can deactive power, CPU, and Memory suckers like WLAN, Bluetooth, the webcam, and Expresscard
Cheers!

As I have built a 2133 for my Dad to use (who is a complete computer newbie) I needed a really easy way of disabling Bluetooth without disabling wireless also (which the switch on the front-right will do). This method had to be easier than using the BIOS or even Device Manager.
The reason for this requirement was to save on power and also increase security.
I made a couple of batch files that make use of the 'Devcon' command (a command line version of Device Manager) to disable and enable Bluetooth from within Device Manager and created shortcuts to these batch files in his start menu. Shortcuts even have pretty icons. This seems to work well.
The purpose of this post is to see if anyone is interested in this meathod. If so, I will post some screen-shots and put together a guide and/or make the required files available for download.
Anyone?

Thanks to all that have replied to my orinigal post here though I think some have missed the point. Anyway, Floridarandy.... we were communicating with Private Messages about this and I have now solved the problem we were having so if you could get in touch we can progress things (you have Private Messages now turned off so I can't PM you).
Regards,
James
