    Default Wireless

Does the wifi work once drivers are updated? - this would make XP a great 2nd OS if I need Windows and then I can use Ubuntu/Xubuntu once support is a little more developed.

I'm getting the 1.2GHz SUSE Version!!! Gonna order soon - just have to get it ok'd by the misses...

Yup, wifi will work on XP (even the light!). You'll get the drivers via Windows update.

I think I read somewhere that if you have Vista you can downgrade to XP for free...is this true and what do I need to do if so?

Default Downgrading Vista to XP Instructions

Yes, you can downgrade for free if you have Vista Ultimate or Business OEM versions:

    1. Get a copy of XP Pro w/Service Pack 2

    2. Install it using the key that came with it (doesn't matter if you're using it already).

    3. Then at the Activation select the activate by phone option rather than the online method. Call the number listed and jump through the hoops. You'll probably end up talking to a real person.

    4. Tell them that you're downgrading from Vista (version) to XP Pro and you need to get it activated. When they ask for the key, make sure you give them the Vista one. They should give you an activation code and then you're set!

Also HP should be offering XP downgrades in May I believe.

On a different forum, there was a message about imaging the hard drive prior to installing XP. Is there any reason to do this if you don't ever plan on returning to Vista Home? I have a USB CD/DVD optical drive. But I don't think you can burn a disk on it.

You shouldn't need to image your drive if you don't want to go back to Vista ever. I was going to image mine, but seeing how poorly Vista runs I probably won't. The main reason for imaging it is so we don't have to go through the install and setup in the future.

If you're worried you might want to go back to Vista, you shouldn't delete the restore partition when you're formating the drive during the XP setup.

I'm looking around to see if anyone else has found all the drivers individually, but I'm not finding anything yet. Everyone is relying on Windows Update.

When I install XP this weekend I'll try and separate downloads for all the drivers
