Default Mini 2140 Video and Audio problems in Vista

    Hi guys

I just got myself a new 2140 with 2 GB ram, 160 GB HDD and it's running Vista.

I installed som codecs and Media Player Classic and tried to run an .avi file. The problem is that it can barely do that, the audio stutters like cazy and the video is just as bad.

Is it the Mini that isn't powerfull enough or did I do something wrong when installing the codecs and player?

By the way, the audio also stutters when Vista starts.

    Please help.

You can turn of couple of ram eating functions using www tutorials (just google vista speed up), for the start turn off that sidebar (it is eating a lot of ram) and set performancer settings for best performance (in properties of my computer), you can leave vista start toolbar.

I tried to tweak things up a bit and I'm also running in windows classic mode. It works better now, but still not perfect.

Would it be an advantage to install Win XP instead?

The most important question is... what is this avi file. It can just require a lot of computing power because of the way it was compressed or it might be just broken.

No the avi file isn't broken, it plays just fine on my other computer.

Btw does anyone have any experience in playing HD material? In 720p of course?

Try this player instead. I get better performance when using it (MPlayer) than when using MPC. Also do you have 1.2 or 1.6GHz model?

    Default Sound problem with vista

Please, let me know if you had the following error message:
"no audio output device is installed"

If that is the case, find the latest version of your driver, download it, uninstall your current driver and install the new one. After uninstalling the driver and reboot it to automatically reinstall it, the audio still may not work. Amazingly though, sometimes after putting the system in hibernate mode and coming back, the audio worked.

I found this solution at noaudiooutput.com
Hope it helps if it doesn't they have other suggestions.
