I dug up this thread to update it with the new boot times after installing a Corsair 128GB
SSD (220MB/s read, 200MB/s write). Previously with my regular HD I was getting about 80 seconds from power switch to the trumpet sound after the Welcome screen, and using a more objective measure the numbers posted above as reported in the Vista event viewer.
AFTER the
SSD install, my Windows Vista Experience disk score went from 5.2 to 5.9. That was disappointing.

Boot time (measure by stopwatch from power switch to second chime) remains almost unchanged (75 seconds vs. 80).
The BootTime variable as measured by Event Viewer did show some improvement, going from about 170 seconds average to less than 100. The system does seem to load all its stuff a lot quicker.
I installed SP2 and about 1GB (yes, GIG) of driver updates from Microsoft (included MS Office updates). I am afraid the test is really not very apples to apples. My VGA camera was misbehaving and rebooting the computer, so there is something funky going on.
The system does seem a little bit snappier, but that is a very subjective observation. The screen looks a lot better than XP though - I can change my font size to my preference, and the desktop icons as well.
I think I am giving up on Vista on the 2133. I will make do with the XP screen until Windows 7 comes out.
