Well I finally got around to installing RC1 today.
It was really simple.
1: Download the ISO and write down the Key
2: Make an SD card bootable. (I Used an 8 gig SD Card)
3: Mount the ISO to a virtual drive, open it and copy all its contents.
4: Paste the contents into the SD card.
5: Reboot, select the sd card to boot from, follow on screen instructions
6: Set aside some time for updates
7: Install my own set of software
8: Enjoy
The total amount of time I spent on setup from download to finishing installing software was maybe 3 hours. It's really a quick and painless process.
I also applied the registry trick and got Aero working and its quite smooth. I hope MS allows it to work in the production version.
There really isnt anything to complain about. Aero Peak is wonderful and all the eye candy is really refreshing.
I havn't played around with adding devices yet so device stage will have to wait.
Over all though performance is more than acceptable with about a 1.5 minute boot time and all applications running nicely even under a moderate load.
I am in the process now of downloading Microsoft Office 2010, so once it is installed we can see how well it works, though I most likely wont keep it unless it really blows me away.
As for software installed:
All the latest MS updates
Via Chrome Video driver
Synaptics driver
uTorrent for downloading
ESET NOD32 for AV
Firefox for browsing
that's really all that I need. I mainly use Google Docs for my office productivity and MS Live Space for online storage. I also use meebo for Instant Messaging (www.meebo.com)
So far I have a fairly streamlined setup by using a combination of a clean windows 7 install and some cloud applications like google docs and meebo and I think this does alot for my performance.
Cheers!
Does your mini-note go into standby or hibernate with Windows 7? When I had the earlier releases on mine I could never get it to go into either.
Also if you haven't done so already, here are some instructions for removing the watermark on the desktop.

Yes hibernate and sleep are both working now.
thanks for the link!
oh yeah, and office 2010
it's pretty slick and runs much smoother than 2007 did
thought I might add some images of me actually USING the computer...duh

you will notice the cpu meter is at 100%
i'm not sure that is accurate because I found the UI to be snappy and responsive with very little lag and was able to type the above pictured paragraph quite easily, in about 45 seconds.
so either the cpu meter isnt accurate just yet or the via c7m just kicks that much ass
either way....cheers!
can you divulge the registry trick ?
Hi zbrown0529
Just wondering what drivers you're using for the inbuilt SDCard reader?
I've tried everything to get the SD Card reader accepting cards and able to format and use them with no luck.
I'd appreciate finding out from if yours is working fine and what version etc drivers you're using.
Appreciated...
Cheers
