Default partitioning xp for win7 duel boot

I finally have win xp pro running well on my 2140. I would like to partition my HD and try and run win 7. I have tried partition magic, but it does not seem to work. I downloaded gparted and searched around the forum. I can boot to gparted but i have no experience with it and i have read some posts which warn that it will erase everything. I had enough problems getting xp pro working.
Anyone know a good guide or have any advice using gparted with xp pro?

    thanks

    Default gparted

You can check my blog at here for a quick intro for using gparted to resize for dual boot (with Ubuntu). gparted is quite easy to use, and should not hurt your existing partition as long as it's clean (anyway if it's not, gparted will put it in a suspect state and not let you). I have set up several 2133 netbooks in this manner. Make sure to read my entire post, though as there are some gotchas if you want to do Ubuntu dual-boot with the mini. Not sure if the same issues are there for the 2140? Once in gparted, the HD devices should be detected and the existing parts shown. You can then resize, etc by simply selecting the partitions you want to modify, and a slider appears that will let you resize it. You need available space of course. If you do do the dual-boot with Ubuntu, I do not recommend letting Ubuntu automagically size your dual install, though. Personally I would like to run Ubuntu and Win7, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
