    Default Major Issue, Need Help...

    Hi guys here is my issue. I installed Windows 7 awhile ago and i just had my first issue, and its a good one. Out of nowhere the computer reset while normal browsing and since its restart alot of my drivers in device manager are corrupt or missing.

    I cant access usb, my wifi will not work, memory card slot will not work, i have have tried everything i have thought so far to help it. I have not restore points to revert back to, and i have files i really need to back up before i even consider a format and fresh install.

    One thing i noticed is that it wont even open troubleshooter and says there is a error trying to fix anything. This has done my head in, does anyone have any suggestions, thanks in advance..

    A little more info please - - Like what machine? Any changes from stock, like adding/changing memory card?

    The first suspect from your description is flaky memory - which is why I asked if you had changed it;
    From the symptoms, it is still a good suspect - - having a poorly seated memory card after shipment is possible;
    Try re-seating the memory card. Handle only by the edges in a static free environment.
    Just take it out and put it back in.
    Then run a good memory test on it, like memtest86, which if not installed on your machine is
    normally installed on any of the "Live Media" rescue disks that you can download.

    The second suspect would be the disk drive - -
    They can also exhibit "early failures" - or loose connections from shipment.
    Check it out also both with eyeball and a decent disk test program in read-only mode.

    If the above fails, call HP.

    if it doesn't work the first time you take out the memory, try rubbing the copper contacts with a pencil eraser like mongol. this is to clean the contacts of any foreign material that could be acting as an insulator.
