Default Broke SuSe by trying to change resolution

Got my HP 2133, delivered from ebuyer, on Friday when I got home at 6:30. Managed to break it by 9:30pm. Is this a record?

Basically, I wanted to reduce the resolution to something more manageable, like 1024x something. I eventually found the option and set it. It did seem to work but then froze. Caps lock didn't turn the light on and off so I decided to hard power off by pressing and holding the power slider button (to the right I think). Anyway, when I booted it up X wouldn’t start due t o a problem with xorg.conf so I lhave enough knowl edge about Linux to check it in VIM and it’s full of @@@@@ symbols. So I think it’s become corrupted . I managed to find a xorg.conf online for the VIA chipset, so I have downloaded to a USB stic k.

My qustion is, how do I to get Limux to see the US B memory stick (whilst not in X)?

In a more general point; I think the comparison of 2133 ith Rools Royce is a good one, but I’m not s ure i’d want R0lls Royce, would prefere a little Corsa. Roolys Royce and the 2133 are just to big a d heavy for me. It’s almost like a laptop, which I already have.

    Thanks,

    Bruce.

PS Typing this on my Asus EEE, don’t know what’s h appened to the char spacing” [/code]

No, I read on some forum of a person who unpacked, plugged in to charge for
the first time, kicked the cord and trashed the LCD when it hit the floor.

If you are at the skill level of not being able to find the USB stick while in a
command line terminal - you would be better off re-installing the OS and let
the installation automation fix things for you.
If you decide to do that - pick something other than SLED or SuSE.
