    Default Webcam help

I'm a Linux noob and have no idea how to do anything with the webcam. Could someone point me in the right direction at to which pre-installed programs support the cam or if I need to download anything else?

User Flerfs at another forum managed to get skype to recognize the camera installing this rpm

    http://download.opensuse.org/reposit...2-3.1.i586.rpm

Here's a link to that thread, not very encouraging though as far as skype under SLED10

Default Follow Novell's directions and the camera works (skype)

with version 2.0.0.72. You do have to go into Skype's Options, Video Devices and click on Enable Skype Video. Selecting webcam: CNF7070 (/dev/video0/). Not the best quality, but it works!

Default Select Webcam reads "no devices found"

I got Skype to open but in Options\video devices\select webcam there is no device listed. it reads "no devices found". did you have to do something to have that webcam listed?

From my own experience, openSuse 11.1 and Skype 2.0 work very well together, and the webcam is recognised automatically.

    Good luck !

The skype instructions were perfect and I have successfully downloaded and installed my first programme using Linux. Way-hay!!

But it wont work correctly with SLED 10.1. And neither does the microphone.

As said above we need 11.1. Boo-hoo!!
