"Who" has done a lot of improvement to it, so have the people on the Ubuntu forum.
But if it still works for you - great.
    - - - -
People are still using that thing - at least it gets downloaded a few hundred times per month even after a year.
So I shouldn't follow that? Does everybodys ubuntu 9.04 work out of the box when installed and the external vga has the mouse pointer already? Its not on mine i can't use my external vga if there's no mouse pointer
With the following in xorg.conf i managed to have an exact clone of the netbook's lcd on an external monitor as soon as i plugin the monitor in the vga port, without -yet- though being able to configure the external monitor to any resolution higher than what hp 2133 supports (1280x768). For non widescreen external monitors that means that 1024x768 is the maximum that shows properly

The cursor appears properly however, so it's a start i d say...

    Section "Device"
    Identifier "Configured Video Device"
    Option "ActiveDevice" "LCD, CRT"
    Option "SWCursor" "on"
    EndSection

    Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "Configured Monitor"
    EndSection

    Section "Screen"
    Identifier "Default Screen"
    Monitor "Configured Monitor"
    Device "Configured Video Device"
    EndSection

I am *really* interested to get the external VGA port to work in 9.04
(Compiz etc would just be nice to have)
    Could you confirm:
    What ubuntu version
    What kernel version
    Which driver/version (Via or openchrome)

    Answering my own question………….:
    From Stelios in http://bl1nk.com/2009/07/mini-note-v...-1/#comment-83

    Section “Device”
    Identifier “Configured Video Device”
    Option “ActiveDevice” “LCD, CRT”
    Option “SWCursor” “on”
    EndSection

IT WORKS – It’s the Option “ActiveDevice” “LCD, CRT” bit that does it!!
I note that this is also shown above (also stelios!!)

But the point is the Standard xorg.conf does not have this and the external monitor does not work without it.

Now I can do Powerpoint, no sorry, OpenOffice Impress presentations on a projector from the 2133!! (even the animations work)

Would be nice to get a better res, but hey this will definitely do - it's as good as in windows!

Which is what is included in the xorg.conf file that has been posted since June 6, 2008 - - -
Anyone up for re-inventing the wheel next?

But mikez, those previous xorgs were for 8.04 or 8.10 and solved problms with internal screen res etc. With 9.04 that was no longer a problem with the default xorg - just that irritating VGA port problem.
Honestly I searched for months without finding that it was specifically that one xorg setting that was important.

Maybe it was just me, but i dont think so.

Hey anyway thanks for your previous help, esp on kernels etc.

    Default 10.04

Back to this old chestnut again
With new 10.04 Ubuntu/ LinuxMint 9 there is no xorg.conf.
As far as I understand it everything should be detected automatically. It certainly workes ok for the internal screen, but once again no go with the external monitor port.

I read that you can have an xorg.conf if you create it, but I'd like to keep things as close to standard as possible.

Anyone been fiddlng with their old 2133 recently?
