    Default Can't see my Harddisk (HP2133) installation ubuntu 9.04 / 8

I try to install ubuntu on my HP2133.
i tested with Ubuntu 9.04, 8 and the netbook remix, but every time i have the same problem there is no Harddisk to choose in the installation Dialog.
It look's like ther is no driver for the VIA Chipset.

You must switch SATA settings in BIOS from Legacy to Native - that should solve your problem (I had similar and now I almost forgot about it).

    Hi !

I have the same problem, but in my bios, there's 2 options :

One for sata drives with "Native" or "Compatible", and an other for Legacy with "Enabled" and "Disabled"...

Which settings are the best ?

    Thank you

Native and Disabled will provide you with the best performance, but the least compatability. If you can run with these settings, do, otherwise switch to more compatible settings, then try loading new chipset drivers, switch back and try it again until it works. Compatible and Enabled basically makes your disk look like an IDE drive to the OS, so you don't need any special drivers.

I tried what you said, but nothing..

When i disable Legacy, I can't boot on my USB DVD, the other option seems to have no effect..

I only want to mention that i meant "Compatible" and "Native" at my first post - I don't think that USB Legacy will have any infuence on machine performance.
