    Eh?

What fixed it? Are you using that xorg.conf I posted? are you using Compiz? does the mouse distort?

    Thanks

trying to run songbird gives the following error:

Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display ":0.0".
    Segmentation fault

looking through xorg.conf (via default) the following is written:

    # RandR is broken, in various places, for various reasons:
    # The driver does not recognize the RandR naming conventions:
    # (WW) VIA(0): Option "Monitor-LCD" is not used
    # (WW) VIA(0): Option "Monitor-CRT" is not used
    # (WW) VIA(0): Option "Monitor-DVI" is not used
    # (WW) VIA(0): Option "Monitor-TV" is not used
    # (==) RandR enabled
    # And if you can't name them, xrandr can't select them. Bummer.

So,,, it looks like I'm stuffed :-(
    Perhaps not - -
Those comments are mine, written about the driver of last June -
They may not apply to this new driver.

Try using the RandR using the xrandr tool from the command line -
see what is up - after being sure it is loaded, enabled and the outputs named of course.

    EDIT: Hint:
For reference, check out the Intel driver - they have the lead on RandR, they wrote it.

Sorry, I'm using your xorg.conf & compiz. The mouse does have a weird quirk in that it doesn't seem to refresh a block of the screen where the cursor is.

    Default Compiz on Debian?

Has anyone tried this, or gotten it working on any other Distro? Like Debian, for example?
