install ubuntu 8.10 w/ bios rev F.04 (recommended method)

i have come across information that pin points the inconsistencies in success of installing ubuntu 8.10 intrepid ibdex on a hp mini note 2133.
you can definitely use the standard GUI ubuntu CD if you use the F. 04 BIOS from HP. click here for the F.04 iso.
just burn this image to CD and boot to it (F9 boot option) to upgrade/downgrade your BIOS.

so you see there is no risk in operating with the F.04 BIOS revision and you get to use standard ubuntu installation.

hello everyone

i'm trying to upgrade the bios to f.04 as i have now f.03, so i can install ubuntu 8.10

i downloaded you iso file, but when i open it, i see no file.

i am trying to put this on USB stick as i have no external cd drive

I've installed on f03 with the standard 8.10 iso and using the 'xforcevesa' kernel option.

Perhaps the fact that I used UNetBootin too make a bootable USB stick from an ISO is significant...
