Interesting. Thanks!

In essence, I did only filtered the necessary command of VIA Ubuntu Install script.

I spotted messages about downgrading the bios from 05 to 04.
As I have no CD, I followed the instructions for setting up a
USB stick on a windows machine. This appears to work, but
when I transfer it to the 2133, it does not boot.
I press F9 at power-on and select the memory stick. I get
the message "Invalid system disk". I take it that this means
that the memory stick is not bootable, although it is the
same one which I used for installing Ubuntu on an Asus EeePC
and my attempts on the 2133.
Have I misunderstood the instructions?

I have now borrowed a USB CD/DVD drive.
On my Win XP box I burned the ISO from the HP download sp40310.exe
onto a CD, using InfraRecorder.
The 2133 booted cleanly from the USB CD/DVD drive and installed
F.04 as the bios.
I am now setting up my USB memory stick to install
Xubuntu 8.10.

Which I can report worked nicely.Originally Posted by Geoff 42

Mine failed with a 4 GB stick, so maybe there is a 2 GB limit.Originally Posted by earlycj5
It seems to boot FreeDos. Does that have some file system limit?

Unfortunately, the link to the F.04 Bios iso file does not work. Could anyone upload this file? This would be great, as HP only provides a Windows .exe file.
It may be using MS-FAT-16 rather than MS-FAT-32 for the file system -Originally Posted by Geoff 42
That would limit the size of the file system.
Build one - check the file system type.
