No there isn't a master reset, that would sort of defeat the point of having passwords in general
As far as I know there isn't anything you can do

Hey there,
Have owned my HP Mini 5101 for a few months now and have never had any issues with it, however yesterday I went to turn it on and as per usual it asks me for my power-on password. It wouldn't accept my normal password (tried like 100 times) and keeps locking me out of the system.
Called customer support and they said I could remove the RTC battery from the motherboard to reset the password (and saw other mini models service manuals suggest the same thing). This did not remove the password (and was a major hassle to get to, having to remove ALL of the internal components to get to it). I need this laptop for work and thus sending it back to HP would be a last resort.
Does anyone know if there are pins on the board somewhere to reset the password? Or a master password for the model?
Help with this would be much appreciated.
Thank You.

Re-loading the BIOS flash over the JTAG port would do it.Originally Posted by zbrown0529
Most likely only the factory has the needed details.
First step - save your data -
On the HP-2133, HP will allow you to return the machine for service *without* the hard disk drive if you ask in advance.
They might do that for the 5101 also.

Get your HP/Compaq and HP Mini bios master password and Hard Drive (HDD) master password here. They also do this for Dell, Fujitsu-Siemens and Sony for only $15. 100% Money back guarantee.
Just go to HP/Compaq and Fujitsu master password to unlock BIOS and Hard drive
The Master Password will delete all Bios passwords giving you access to your locked computer again.
