Customized HP 5101 Delivery Time

Can anyone out there, who has ordered the customized built HP 5101, please tell me:
- the date you order;
- the date you receive;
- how accurate the order status shown on your HP account is.

I've ordered mine through an agent (as I live in Australia and can't get one or order one myself) since 15 August but it hasn't arrived yet. The agent keeps telling me that she couldn't get any info. from HP at all. [/code]

That sounds extremely strange. Have the agent give you the order number.
Has any money changed hands? Did it go into your agent's Christmas present savings?

Not sure what your order consisted of but there have been reports that the HD version of this netbook are not available outside of Japan. The HP web site for the USA does not indicated a HD screen as an option for this model the last time I checked (about a week ago).

This is not correct. I have the 5101 with the HD resolution and I live in the US. I've had it for well over a month now. There are many many available configurations that are not indicated on the website.

Ok, I ended up getting a refund from the agent. He claimed that HP gave him different responses each time he followed up with them e.g. it was shipped, it was on backorder, no idea what happens,e tc. Whatever the story is, it's time to decide whether I should stick with 5101 or buy something else?

Except for the one or two NetBook manufacturers located in Australia,
it seems that Australia is about last on every manufacturers distribution list.

So you will probably have to wait for anything you decided you want.
Or find a more effective agent.

To rephrase your question:
"Is the 5101 worth the wait? Should I wait for something else?"

I've ordered mine from the HP US website (customized machine) and the original estimate was to ship tomorrow, 10/14. However when I view the Line Item information on the order each of the components has an estimated ship date of 11/02. Strange thing is that the general info page is still giving the original date.

Called HP about it yesterday to find out what's going on and they were to get back to me today with a response from the warehouse. If they can't get it out before this day next week then I'll have to cancel the order as I'm heading off traveling.

You gave them a deadline (10/13 + 7 == 10/20) and they met it (10/19).

No I didn't give them a deadline, that was just what they've already pushed it out too (still an estimate)
