Unhappy Mini 210 - unexplainable cracked screen

I've had my Mini 210 for a couple of months now, and love the thing to bits. In fact, it has pretty much become my primary PC!

In order to make sure it didn't get damaged, I bought one of these ZeroShock III Netbook Case 8.9-10.2" - White - GearZap.com which is a shockproof netbook case. I have kept the netbook within the case, and never dropped it or put any excess pressure on it - then lastnight I was using it, put it back into the case, opened it up this morning and a big black, cracked looking, section has appeared on the screen along with strange lines of colour. I guess the LCD has become cracked but the problem is that there is no way that I could have caused this, and I doubt I'd be able to convince HP of that fact.

Can anyone give me some advice? I didn't buy the extra damage protection but I gather there is a 12 month warranty (which doesn't cover the screen apparently!). All in all I'm pretty furious that by the looks of things HP will want me to fork out the cash for the repair when the damage is obviously caused by a product defect!

    Default The apparent reason

The apparent reason for what happened
with you could be that you put your mini in that
shockproof and I presume, airtight case,
instantly after using it and thus not giving it
    time to cool down!
I guess your screen, sort of, melted-cracked
    due to the heat.
Its just a guess presuming that your protective
    case was air-tight.
