I'm looking at making a purchase for one of these little guys. Though, being so new, I haven't found exactly what I'm looking for. Specifically, installing a newer Broadcom BCM70015 PCIe vice the older one offered as an option on HP's website. Has anyone done this? Would there be any compatibility issues?

Really? 150+ views and no input? So, I guess I'm the only one thinking about doing this? A little more info far you lurkers out there: the Dell Mini offers the later model Broadcom device and I do realize the HD model of the 210 has a higher resolution screen but I'm not a big fan of the high gloss screen and am not willing to pay a premium for it. And, the Broadcom option is only an option on the HD unit.

I too lamented over this for two months. I could not find an HD version to look at in person and defaulted to the Costco store option/std. version in the end. Mini 210 1032CL is the exact model and it has some nice features. Perhaps you already know all that. I looked at every packaged version offered, went through all the specs and only got hung up on one issue: HD or not? As I could not find a realistic review of the HD version and no stores anywhere had one, I am very happy with the non-HD Costco version. The screen is nice. Glossy yes, but everything in this category is right now. Too bad but I am getting over it. If I want to see my pics in HD, I connect to a big TV. Works great. I think the netbook screen is too small anyway to matter much, HD wise that is. Maybe not, who knows? Nobody has one on display! My uses are e-mail, a few pics and some light surfing while on the go. Thankfully, I can afford any computer I want. My fear was ordering an HD version, waiting for weeks or more and then being disappointed. I wanted to grab a Mini quick and give it a shot and if it flopped, walk it right back and get a refund. Costco was the only option for me there. Costco extends the warranty out to 2yrs so it was a no brainer. Also, I was really concerned about the small nature of the 210 but find it is not hard to type on in a pinch. Usually I hook up a wireless keyboard and mouse anyway (in the RV). Works great. Love the size. Great battery life. I'm not pushing you towards Costco but they do offer a way to configure a custom build online direct from HP. You could go that way, get the HD version customized and still have the extra warranty. That was my initial plan but I just grabbed one from the store and it's fine. I'm pretty picky too usually and would have returned it if the screen was not good. I've had it now for almost a month. No plan to return it. Hope this helps you. Last edited by iceman8; 04-26-2010 at 11:32 PM.
