Default HOW just HOW to install Windows on HP2133

Im having a real hard time trying to install Windows on a HP2133 KR922UT#ABA that is Windows XP or Windows 7. Ive seen many people here running them but I can't. I made a bootable USB drive using win to flash of windows 7. Installation starts fine until Im presented on were I want to install Windows. My harddrive doesn't appear on the list as it should. It only gives me very little space that i cant even install it there. I tried getting SATA drivers for this but they're impossible to find. I guess windows 7 SHOULD have the drivers already?. I also tried changing the SATA device mode on the BIOS to compatible, native none work. I managed to install windows XP but I only have 3GB of space. The computer had linux install from the manufacturer and the HD is supposed to be 16GB. !!

The system requirements for windows 7 say it need 16 GB of HDD space, so if thats your disk size then you probably wont be able to install it, or wont want to anyway since you would be left with no space at all.
The windows directory alone in my PC is more than 14 GB in size, so i dont think windows 7 is a good choice unless you update the hard drive.

    Hi...
I am having problems installing XP on my HP 2133. I used wintoflash. At the end of the first part of the installation (text) I had this known problem called "hal.dll missing". I continued with the second part of the installation (GUI) to see if something could be done afterwards.

So apparently this "hal.dll issue" is a problem with your boot.ini file. So in the last version of wintoflash you have different multiboot options with different configurations of rdisk and partition... like rdisk(1) partition(2), rdisk(1) partition(3).... rdisk(2) partition (1) etc...

It didn't work. So, since i didn't know what to do next I decided to use BartPE to open the boot.ini directly from the windows installation and modify it. Obviously that didn't work either.

I don't know if I have to install the drivers of the HDD. If that's the case where can I find them and how do I do that? If not, please tell me what should I do.

    Thx

I would first try to install xp (or win7) from installation disk, using external optical drive. That's how I've installed win7 on my 2133 mini (and it was absolutely normal install). However, my hd is 120G. If your problem goes away, then it's a win2flash issue. If the problem stays, then it's windows can't see your hd.

hum... finding the external optical would be the problem... I was just thinking about that... i think i'll have to buy one :s... grrr.

I hope I won't have to install the drivers... for the hd.

    Thx for your help.

This is an old thread but...
I just installed W7 on 2 computers via USB flash drive. First was my Archos 9 and then last night I did my HP2133. Both started as Windows machines but I converted them to Ubuntu 10.04.

What I noticed is that i got a message that said the program could not be installed to (whatever) partition. There were 2 on the drive, one large and one small. I just delete both partitions using the Windows installer and proceeded with the install. Both drives are 60Gig the Archos is a 1.8" ZIF PATA HDD and the HP2133 is a 2.5" SATAII SSD.

I had no major issues with either install. In fact the video on the HP2133 worked great out of the box with a resolution of 1280 x 768. I installed the latest VIA drivers anyway though to get use of the FN brightness control keys.

Sound and video playback on both machines is much better with W7 than Ubuntu.
