    Default Microphone Windows 7 issue

    Hello!

I installed 7 on my 2133 recently and I'm pretty happy with it. However, I can't seem to get the Mic to work. It appears OK in Control Panel, but it doesn't work otherwise.

I thought it might have been a driver issue, but there's nothing to be found on HPs site.

    Otherwise, speakers work fine.

    Any input is appreciated.

    Cheers!

I also have mic issue, but it's not entirely dead though: while using sound recorder I will can hear myself, but the volume is VERY low for some reason, even after I boosted MIC to +10db.

Right now I'm using the default sound card driver that comes with fresh Win7 installation. Tried other drivers, didn't help much, will dig in more.

I don't know about 7, but in xp i had the same problem, the mic was too soft. The solution was to install vista drivers, but i figure that in 7 this problem would be non existent since i is vista based.
So i dont know what the solution is, but myabe you could check this thread and try something similar

    Thanks, it really helps!

The mic issue on my 2133 is now resolved: it turns out I have to use the audio driver posted on HP's website (HP 2133 Mini-Note PC- Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center) to make it work, I'm not sure if it's because 2133 has to use certain version of Analog Devices driver (6.10.1.5740 or 6.10.1.5880), or if HP made some customization to those drivers. The driver comes with Windows 7 installation or the latest Analog Devices driver (6.10.1.7xxx) pulled down by automatic driver update would render the microphone almost useless because of the extremely low volume.

then please drop a note to analog devices and HP for a newer drive that runs under win7 and solves the issue, i know they won't say: yes we do this fast but they might work on it in a future release (as analog dev. does it maybe)
