Bump up this old thread to see if it's been resolved, since I'm having the same problem. As I recall everything worked fine when I had XP on my 2133 with MSN Live Messenger 2008, ever since MS forced an update to Live Messenger 2009 everything went downhill: video call no longer works with new messenger regardless what I do, both local and remote video are showing nothing but pinkish noise. I had to downgrade to MSN Messenger 7.0 but it doesn't always work. After upgrading to Windows 7 I'd started to have the same problem described in this thread, freezing video and crappy sound with Live Messenger 2009, showing webcam only (without audio) in Messenger works fine though, which is the same when I had XP + Live Messenger 2009. Any clues? It feels like a driver issue, but I have all drivers up to date. Also it could be a compatibility issue in MSN Live Messenger 2009. Yes HP 2133 is a bit slow but I don't think performance is the problem here.

An update on this: it appears the freezing video issue is now resolved along with the microphone issue after I put on a different sound card driver (see Microphone Windows 7 issue), and it appears the other end can now hear me fine through live messenger video call, but the sound from the other end still breaks up very badly. It seems it's indeed a driver issue, however for now I'm not sure where to get a more suitable driver.

FORMAL LETTER OF COMPLAINT February 2, 1010 To whom it may concern; I hope this will reach to top management of HP and will help this simple issue. I am Richard, I am from Philippines, a HP user and I am angry. 1) I bought my HP mini 2133 September of 2008 here in the Philippines. Worth Php 24,550.00 to be exact (Please see attached receipt). 2) June 2009, I brought it to HP service center for repair. They said they have to reformat it because there was a virus that cannot be cleaned and only HP can do it. Please note that it is under warranty (1 year). But according to them it is not covered by the warranty. So I paid the bill. 3) A few months after the warranty period (December 2009), my HP mini 2133 breaks down. It does not want to open. I brought it back to HP service center for repair. 4) They told me that it maybe overheated. 5) They have to repair it and will send quotation before doing it so. 6) January 2010, I got a quotation on the parts, labor and tax. Costing to Php 37,804.00 (Please see attached quotation from HP Service center Philippines). NOW, please somebody tell me that this is reasonable. Price of a brand new HP2133 now here in the Philippines is Php 18,000.00. WHY HP service center quoting me twice the price of brand new HP mini 2133 for the repair of my PC? Php 37,804.00 can buy new high-end HP laptop or even 2 laptops of other brands. Another is, A FEW MONTH AFTER THE ONE YEAR WARRANTY PERIOD, breaks down. Is this the QUALITY of HP is now doing? I am really pissed off about this because I spent huge money for this. For us Filipino, Php 37,804.00 is not a small amount. It is also not a small amount for the cost of my 2133. I bought my HP mini 2133 because HP is world renowned for computers. Best PC provider. Even if the price is expensive, I still bought it because I was so sure of the quality I will get. Unfortunately, I was totally wrong. Now, I don't know what to do with my broken HP. I am so sad to what had happened. Thinking of the bill to pay, I want to burn the whole thing and bring it back to HP. I hope HP headquarters can do something about my PC. Like I said, the money I paid for is not a small amount for me. I don't pick the money in the streets. I worked hard for the money and I deserve better result.

Before you guys buys this HP 2133, think again. Please see forum below from HP. HP 2133 mini: just up and died - HP Support Forum Few months after the warranty period, it will breakdown. You'll have to bring it to HP Service center and I bet your brain will be blown away with the part, repair cost. It's going to be twice the price of a brand new HP2133. You'll be sorry. Many from around the world is complaining for this problem and it seems that HP is not doing anything. And still selling this model when they know this problem ever since. I am one of the many victims of HP 2133 and this is a very deceiving unit. It's beautiful in the outside but cannot describe by negative words from the inside.
