Unhappy How to replace wireless chip?

Well, it's Finally happened. AFter having this HP 2133 for all these years, it finally upped and quit. No, it didn't overheat like the rest of them (at least, not that I know of), instead, the wireless died. And, let's face it, a netbook without wireless is pretty useless!

    So, the big question is:

o Does Anyone have any clue how to replace the internal wireless card (if there IS one?

Please check the service guide provided by HP: it is deeply hidden and you have to dismantle nearly everything to get to the miniPCI-E card, as it is hidden under the mainboard. Apart from this there is not much problem, but to be safe check the list of the card that were tested to work 100% because there is some kind of the whitelisting in the BIOS - it can lock out the computer, if not "compatible" hard has been inserted.
Where do we want you to go today?

I'm a bit conflicted now. It's probably better to NOT fix it myself, but if I ship it off, they'll probably charge me MORE than it's worth. After all, it's pre-VIA and the 6 cell battery only lasts 2 hours!

doing your self would teach you some rapair skill, instead of trashing it and i think that people on this forum might help you any time :-)

the wireless slot shouldn't be blacklisted as i read someone fited a 802n intel mini pci express card inside.

    PS:
If you use it on the go and like it alot why not take a Micro USB W-Lan stick and put it in the left USB slot it would help extend its lifespan and then clean out the vents :-)

    EDIT:
    Look here:
W-Lan Mini Pci-e replacement? Anyone modded in another card?
and somewhere was a intel 5300 mentioned to work
