Has anyone tried an Firewire Express Card for capturing video from a DV camcorder? I was wondering if the CPU can handle this before buying one? I'm running a 1.2Ghz with 2Gb RAM and XP.

My Athlon XP 2800+ (@2,2Ghz) does it smooth but it is under heavy load
maybe you should buy the card where you can return it, some shops take things back for 14 days if you don't like them
maybe the 1,2Ghz Via C7 might be enought just for grabbing videos?
If you use a programm without preview functions and which is light... maybe.....
i remember there was a programm which was tiny and portable just for "grabbing" an DV avi directly from the magnetic tape (which was called DV-Tape).
That avi could be cutted and reworked with avidemux, that should be the lightest combo
i will look if i find that programm
I don't think that there will be any problem with XP as my XP was working fine. I just have problem with vista, with vista they don't even recognize that the camcorder is connected.
