Surely all those 2133 users didn't just melt away. I remember we used to have quite a membership. Course, like a lot of us, I kind of drifted away after I had it for awhile.

Especially no comments on Win 7! I mean, shouldn't Every 2133 user be on Win 7 by now?

Common guys, comment. What's been going on? What's new with your 2133? What have you added to it? What're your experiences? How are You using it?

The forum has only just been transferred over. The old setup only had one very generic support section and I hope to make the forum better by having much more specific sections!

I'll eventually get all the old threads across into their relevant sections!

    OK, I'll bite.

I still use my 2133 all the time as it is my "go to" writing computer.

In May, I had the RC of Win7 installed on it and I thought it was pretty good. When I received my RTM copy of Win7 in mid August I put it on but didn't activate. Heat was a definite concern for me and I what I perceived to be a shorter battery life.

I have always dual booted with XP and either Vista or Win7. I dumped Win7 and put back the Vista Business partition. Having the Windows Home Server makes it so easy to flip back and forth. Even though Vista is on the one partition I hardly ever use it. XP just flies and that is what I use the most.

I upgraded my wife's 2133 to Win7 Home Premium. The install was painless. It recognized just about everything without any hassles. It seems to run just like it did before on XP performancewise.

    Default Windows 7?

I don't really have a need for Windows 7 as my 2133 came with XP. If I'd have had Vista, I'd probably have migrated to the RC long before now. I run a dual boot with Ubuntu Jaunty, but have to turn off the second proc in the BIOS to do so. I use mine for travel, checking email when out of the office during the day, browsing the web at the local watering hole, and streaming movies from my NAS at night when the wife is asleep and I can't doze off.

I wish HP would place the 21xx machines in direct competition to the consumer-grade netbook junk being offered by the various 3G providers. Anyone who buys a 2 year wireless service contract for a radio in a cheaply made device with a one year warranty should really have their heads examined.

As to the device's longevity, I had a power supply failure last month, sent it in for warranty service, and got it back within a week. Great turnaround time. I'm a little concerned that it happened, of course, considering the gentle treatment it's received, but this sort of thing happens with laptops from time to time and why I purchased an HP care pack for coverage.

    Hello everyone....

I bet you all thought you'd got rid of me! ;-)

I've re-fallen in love with my 2133 again thanks to W7, so I might be hanging around on here a bit more.

    Default Where we are...

Hey, my HP2133 died some month ago on the HPSDS (HP-sudden death syndrome), so that's the reason for me not to be here anymore. I guess I had one of the first mainboard revisions, that died because of the energy-hungry Via-processor-startup.
Nevertheless, I wish you much fun with the shiny little things=). I changed to the Intel-Atom Base by now, because Via hasn't done the driver for Ubuntu 9.10 yet. It's great to have anything running on linux without all the compiling work and unstable drivers. But I hope for you, that Via will at least support Ubuntu 10.04LTS, with 3 years support.
    Bye
