    Default Help! 2133 or 1115 =(

So after tons of reviewing I'm positive I'll be going with either the 2133 or 1115. BUT! Which one! lol.

The 2133 I have access too is the 1.2Ghz, 2gb ram, 120 hdd with the 3d guard, running vista basic. no bt if i remember correctly, sd card slot, b/g wireless, expansion card slot, vga out, etc etc. oh. 3 cell battery for 299.

As for the 1115nr, 16gb ssd, 1gb ram (but i can upgrade to two?) sd card slot, no vga (i've seen the cable available on a few websites), running xp sp3, and has the atom 1.6ghz and 3 cell battery for 299 also. I was planning on adding an sd cards for more space, and carry a external usb hdd for my movies and whatnot if i ever even need it.

i'll just be using it for school, nothing fancy, the only games that even interest me will be guild wars, which i know will run on the 1115nr (i've done it on the acer with same specs), and maybe starcraft. word documents and an older version of photoshop if its even possible. all that i've read says that the 2133 will be fine for that but the 1.2ghz scares me, and i don't know why. i'll be dual booting xp, but hoping to toss in mac os x (which i've read can't be done on this one, but the 1115nr can?)

I really like the look of the 2133 and the 120gb is appealing. Any suggestions or new information will just make my day. lol.

Is the only thing keeping you from a 2140 the the price? It's the best of both worlds, but I understand you pay for that. For me it was worth it. The big deal killer for me on the 1000 series was the PARALLEL 1.8" SSD drive. Talk about your limited upgrade or repair options. On the 2140/2133 you can drop in whatever SATA 2.5" hard drive you like, there are only a couple thousand to pick from.

I didn't even know about the 2140 until I read through the pages on here after I posted this. =) The main reason why I'm choosing between these two is because it will essentially be *free* from my job. They hand out gift cards like crazy and those are the two that they have at the moment. Well, those and the 8gb, 512mb 1115nr for 299 also, which makes no sense. The 2133 we have on display runs flawless though, and I test it everyday to ensure that, along with customers all day. They open files, programs the webcam and leave it running. Then I'll walk by and mess with it. Vista runs surprisingly smooth on opening files, accessing the hard drive, etc. And I don't plan on doing anything drastic with the little armadillo, web very light and old school gaming. Eventually XP will be on there alongside vista. And from what I've gathered the 1.2ghz isn't hyper threaded?

But with it being an essentially free item I'm sure I'll be happy with the 2133 for what I want it for. I've already got two desktops at home, one xp and one vista for my main needs. This is just for the fun of it when I want to lounge on the patio or something or on a trip (which I'm taking one next month! yay!). Any up to date info on whether the mobo/processor can be swapped out in the future? Or the graphics card?

By the way, sorry for the long posts, and all the info on this site is amazing. XD My mom got the acer and I really like it, but HP seems to be the ones for me. Just gotta upgrade her ram to 1.5.

The C7-M processor is a single core, single process pipeline, no hyper-threading.
There is no "graphics card", the GPU is integrated into the chip set.
The HP-2133 product is at its "end of life" point - no longer being produced - get a 2140 Hi Res.

Is the Hi Res 2140 the one for 399?

I love my 1.2 2133. It does everything I need perfectly. I use it occasionally for games, but only the older stuff like Half Life, Deus Ex etc. For these it works fine. No problems with movies either. And the high res screen is brilliant.

Given the circumstances you have related go for the 2133.

And do it in a hurry, the 2133 has been discontinued even longer than the 2140.
