Any word on a solution for this?
I would love an Atheros card so I could use this notebook exclusively and not needs my Thinkpad...

This one works in XP and in Ubuntu 8.10:
GIGA-BYTE GN-WI06N-RH N300 Dual-Band Mini Card - Mini PCI Express - 300Mbps
I got it on buy.com for $62 - - it's now $60: http://www.buy.com/retail/product.as...41&dcaid=17768
What came out of my US-model KX869AT (1.2Ghz CPU, 120GB 5400 Hard Drive, originally with 1GB RAM & SuSE LED 10) was:
FCC ID QDS-BRCM1019
IC: 4324A-BRCM1019
BCM94311MCAGBP1 rev P2
In Ubuntu I have flawless connection to a hidden network with WPA2. I don't know if that's the wireless card or 8.10 (I installed 8.10 immediately after the card) - - but I could never get 8.04 to connect twice in a row. Ubuntu 8.10 recognized it as an atheros card, so no more ndiswrapper! (Flawless connection in XP too, but that wasn't a problem with the original card.)
While inside the machine, I removed the internal screens on the vents and replaced the thermal tape on the CPU with Arctic Silver. The latter probably wasn't necessary - - I exposed the CPU, cuz pix in one of the forums led me to expect a gloppy blob of thermal paste.
The new wireless card has three antenna connectors - - Anyone know where to find a third antenna?

Any word on an Atheros chipset working inside the Mini-Note?

I swapped in an Atheros AR5007EG (AR5BXB63) last Saturday. I know others here have done it as well, since this is where I got the idea. It is quite an improvement over the Broadcom card, at least in Linux land.
