A certain sign that it wants to go back home to HP.

The wireless light doesn't change when you move the switch, or does any sound come out of the speakers when you turn it on (like the startup sounds)?

I'd call HP as soon as possible at any rate. Best case is your monitor connection is messed up, but you'll void your warranty opening the mini-note to access it.

Happened to mine, exactly the same with lights and all. I started up from hibernation and got some sort of failure message saying it couldnt find the partition. I slid the power button to restart, but it never restarted. Had it sent back to HP roughly 3 weeks ago, and got it back again yesterday. The report said it was a mobo power failure.

Default Possible solution?

Hello there.

I'll just get this out of the way right off the bat: I don't have an HP 2133. I do however, have a Pavilion 9000 series, and I had a very similar problem (completely dark panel, no HP BIOS screen, nothing). So this may or may not apply to you; all I know is that this worked for me.

Simply try unplugging and taking the battery out for a couple of minutes. Presumably this allows the RAM to clear any settings that the computer is trying to reload (say, resuming from a corrupted standby or hibernate session). I was about to send my notebook in to HP, but figured I'd give this a try first, and it worked instantly.

Hope that helps...

I just wanted to confirm that this problem happens under Linux as well. I've installed Fedora and when the battery is trickle-charging, it seems to take forever. (50%->55% in four hours.)

Although I didn't have this problem when I first purchased the laptop 5 days ago, it seemed to start when I put the laptop into suspend, or when the machine is not fully shut down properly.

It's 10:35 pm here and with the battery power at roughly 2/3, I've just applied the "take the battery out and put it back in" fix. I'll check back in the morning and let you know how it worked out.

Good clues. You are not the first with this problem. Some did fix it by the remove, wait, replace cycle.

You should expect the battery to recharge from the minimum "auto shutdown" level to full charge in less than the usual run-time.
If not, something is broke, call HP, they will probably want it back.

It would be a good idea to backup your files completely while it is still "sort-of" working.

Good news: after unplugging the battery and plugging it back in, the notebook seems to have charged up to 100% overnight.

To recap: if your battery is charging very slowly, try removing it briefly from the notebook and then refasten it after a few seconds. According to others on this website, this resets a small microcontroller that manages charge rate independently of the rest of the machine. In my experience, various sleep modes and improper power-off procedures may be at fault for putting this controller in a bad state.

Default It's a mobo failure

Same happenned to me... i.e. the screen once suddenly turned to black then windows failed to rebbot even in safemode and then nothin would turn on except for the blue led... Sent it to HP and they said it was a mobo failure... they are currently replacing it.... must be very frequent issue because they were out of mobo stock... So I'll tell you if it wirks again...

Same with my mini...
Any ideas how to repair it without HP's service?
