Hi,
First post to the forum and a bit of a beginner, so be gentle!
I recently bought a refurbished HP2133 to play about with open source software and also to have a really portable computer for travel. I am really, really pleased with it in many ways (not to mention the price!). I'm also enjoying having a look at all the OS software that puts Windows to shame in many respects. However, I have a couple of questions:
I have the 1GB model (KX872AA) and see that it is possible to upgrade to 2GB. This will cost £30-£40, so I was wondering if anyone could comment on how much of a difference this will make to the overall running of the computer and in what ways.
Also, I have been really keen to run BBC iPlayer if possible. I am using Xubuntu 9.04 as my OS (KK - UNR way too slow and Via drivers not yet released). It is far slicker than the most recent versions. However, although I have applied the Via binary updates, playback is still very jumpy. The sound is fine. YouTube playback is a bit better (with Flash installed), although not exactly smooth. I was wondering if there is any way I can get really good playback, or whether I have to accept that the Via chipset / graphics card is going to be the weak link!
All comments and advice gratefully received.
Thank you in advance :?
