Default INSTALLING PLUG N PLAY USB HARDWARE WOES

Every time i try to install a device such as samsung usb dvd drive (SE-s084b) or PB external hard drive it recognises something is thre but doesnt install its drivers.

ALso my canon pixma iP3500 wont install it finds it as an 'other device'

I've updated my bios and chipset drivers.

I got samsung to send me the drivers on the external drive by email and using these gave me sucessful results for that product.

I'm just wondering why my HP 1000 (runnin xp sp3) doesnt auto install plug and play devices!

    grr

    Any help would be fantastic!

That only works if XP has the drivers already built in and, for many things (especially newer hardware), it doesn't have them already there.

If it doesn't, you'll need to go to the manufacturer's site and actually download them, or use a USB DVD drive and use the install CD that came with the device.

Your BIOS and Chipset drivers have little, to nothing, to do with it in most cases.

Have you tried the Pixma iP3500 drivers from Canon's website?
