SATA II is downward compatible with SATA. A SATA II HDD or SSD will run in your MIni without any problem but limited to the speed of SATA. Guess you won´t feel any difference on your Mini![]()
This is a discussion on SATA vs. SATA II (Noob question) within the Hardware Help forums, part of the Main category; So I've realized that the 2133 and the 2140 take SATA HDDs. Will a SATA II HDD work with them ...
So I've realized that the 2133 and the 2140 take SATA HDDs. Will a SATA II HDD work with them as well? I wanted to make sure before I went out and put down money for a SATA II SSD.
Thanks in advance,

The 2133 will run either SATA-I or SATA-II drives, the interface "auto-configures".Originally Posted by Ollec

I don't know about the 2140 (different chipset) but it is probably the same;
Also, a specification compliant SATA-II drive will also "auto-configure"
if run on a fixed speed interface.
Translation #1: It doesn't matter - buy it - it will work.
Translation #2: The NetBooks aren't fast enough for you to notice the doubled
transfer rate (which is a tiny part of the read/write cycle time) - so it doesn't matter.
