![]() Back to the subject: it is (in theory) possible to sacrifice WiFi and install GSM/CDMA module instead and then use WiFi antennas for this adapter, but I doubt BIOS would accept such card (BIOS adapter whitelisting problem) and sacrificing WiFi is not the best idea ![]() For me I use 3 solutions when no WiFi is available: (depending on network signal availability, strength and so on) for GSM/3G networks available in Poland, Europe and most of the US: 1. USB adapter (Huawei e169) connected directly or (if possible in the area I'm saying) through Wireless router (Huawei D100) [E169 is HSUPA 7.2/2.1 capable] - main drawback: delicate and easy to break when connected to USB, also easy to forget ![]() 2. If signal is very low I use ExpressCard Option Globetrotter GE0301 and connect external (quite a big one) antenna [this one is also HSUPA 7.2/2.1 capable] - main drawback: card is ExpressCard/33 and 2133 has 54 port - it means that card is not very stable inside the port and also it extrudes a lot from the port. 3. Sometimes for quick connectivity I just use my HTC TouchPro (in the US known also as Fuze?) and Internet Sharing using Bluetooth (rarely WiFi using some kind of virtual hotspot software): this is very good solution, but my calling plan does not include a lot of data and it's quite expensive to use, but it's hard to forget or damage anything

Shame about the 3G... especially seeing as the muppet in John Lewis told me it HAD 3G!!! Not to worry though, I love the unit and its very quick and neat... keys feel good unlike some of the other netbooks I have handled. Looks like more Brits are joining in ! | |
