It will use all of it not otherwise used for I/O (PCI, video) space, typically 3.5GB.
On Windows, you need to add a boot.ini option: /3gb

Wow it seems like companies are just starting to come out with their 4GB sticks.

The dell is only $130 while the Kingston is $625. I think the dell is actually two sticks.

i asked smartm.com who make that sodimm according to http://www.fronet.com/Compare_Produc...745,1011054709
that link says it is a 1x4gb sodimm

and from smartm.com's reply it appears they could be a 2 sodimm kit, but will try and clarify further

thanx jim .... the chipset supposedly supports 4gb, so cant i simply trash the existing 2gb sodimm and replace it with a 4gb one

my guess is HP say only 2gb support as when people put 4gb in their 32bit PC they lose around 0.5gb of the top effectively leaving 3.5gb usable, which dissapoints a lot of people, i would be prepared to acccept that loss

    Hello Antony,

The 2133 only has one SODIMM slot. So with a 2GB SODIMM already installed, you cannot upgrade further.

will your 4gb sodimm be likely to work in my hp2133 mini-note laptop .... its max supplied factory memory is a single 2gb sodimm, but have read that he via-c7 cpu supports upto 4gb ( i will confirm this when i return home from work)

what are the physical dimensions of this 4gb sodimm - are they bigger/higher than standard sized 2gb sodimms

will you ship to new zealand, payment by VISA ... if so what is the proce

thanks in advance and hi from new zealand

    =============================
the limitation in 32bit os is 2gb PER APPLICATION, i have had over 40 machines at work with 3gb in them and 32bit os's and 32bit cpu's, some with the /3gb switch, some without (it doesnt always work) .... you can have more than one application running at once, so can use unwanted ram as a ramdisk
.... you could load a stripped down xp image into a ramdisk, and run your entire os from ram

damn must be a 2gb kit ... dell site says
OEM Manufacturer Equivalent Part Number Apple MA940G/A
which when you google " Apple MA940G/A" a lot of 2x 2gb kits coe up

will have to wait for a price drop from kingston, or for another manufacturer
