I was thinking the same thing after just a few hours of use, I'm planning on giving this a try when i get home from work tonight, I found this guide to take it apart, cant remember where i found it, i believe it was posted some where on this site, http://h50178.www5.hp.com/FILE/81075/81075.pdf its the HP maintenance and service guide, so it should pretty much have everything you need.

For me Warranty is not an issue, as US warranty does not cover Poland (usually) and all I will be able to do is to send back if device will be DoA.

Just pulled mine apart and took all three vent covers off, I defiantly notice a difference. the back of the laptop feels at least 10 degrees cooler from the out side, I know its very scientific, but i would say if your not afraid to pull your brand new laptop apart (i have only had mine for 6 days,) then go for it, its worth it.

Oh, i forgot to mention, Its important to note, this will only improve the temperature of the back half of the laptop. the front still gets rather warm, this is due to the location of a chip right under the touch pad (this is either the chipset, or the GPU, Im not really sure)

Default taking apart and vent removal

    THIS VOIDS 2133's WARRANTY

i take no responsibility for anything that goes wrong from reading this guide. be careful and nothing should need force to come apart. except case tabs.

You will need a decent percision screwdriver kit and a torx 9 i think :| not sure what torx.

    next is the battery removal

next is removing these 3 screws in the back (be carful not to scratch your screen, its right above the screws.

next will be removing the keyboard , the keyboard is held down by tabs on the sides, use a small flat screw driver , the keyboard will lift out (be carful of ribbon!!), unplug the ribbon with the little tab.

next you have to remove the screws and hdd connector (very very very fragile ribbon be carful - lifts up), the harddrive will comeout after the 3 screws surrounding it. the top right black sticker houses another torx screw. the bottom left is a small plastic tab needs to be poped out a little away from the heatsink. after flip the unit over.

after that you will need to removed 4 rubber feet on all corners and the torx screws underneath them.

okay, now is the hard part :P, pop off the casing, i used a flat tipped driver and popped it off from the inside of the casing, from the outside it will most likely damage the case. if you must go from the outside use a credit card or somthing stiff and plastic. the casing has to be popped off.

i drew red lines on the places plastic tabs are.

the middle right is 1 vent that can be removed (will cool memory and wireless better )

removed all the heatsink screws and tape.

cables in front do not have to be removed but should be for safety.

bend up the metal retention (silver angle bar) or completly remove it.

slide the heatsink upwards be carful of the cpu die and fan cable.

the red squares on the top picture show the 2 vents i also removed

this increased the air flow ALOT, it will also leave the laptop open to dust. but it should not collect dust bad considering the fan size.

these are the vents i removed on the bottom laying on the bottom of the 2133.

sorry, this is a bad guide. but its my first ever. and i just want people to have cool 2133's :P

the airflow has greatly increased, i have dropped the temps from hot to touch to barley warm from removing the vents.

laser temperature shows 34C at the laptop bottom. (thanks to my friend for lending me his)

    anyways

    good luck

    Geesh. That's a little intimidating.

So, what about ripping it out from the outside?

from the outside is simple use a small flat tip scren drive and break the grill up and take it out through the out vent holes.

should only take you a minute or two
