These are a bunch of Vista tweaks that can speed up boot time on the Vista running Mini-Note. http://blog.laptopmag.com/speeding-u...note-boot-time I got Vista boot time (on 1.2GHz and 1GB RAM) down to a minute and 30 seconds. Anyone got any more tricks?

Awesome! That's almost as fast as the 1.2Ghz model with XP. I have a few things over here than can help (after reading that guide you've already done our two startup tips but the others might help overall) http://www.hp2133guide.com/mini-note...ization-guide/ My main ones would be turn of Aero (which I don't think you have on the 1.2Ghz) and the Search Indexing service: Turn off Vista Search Indexing Service * Click the Start button * Type in “Services” in the search box, then hit enter * In the Services window, find where is says “Windows Search” and double click it * Set “Startup Type” to “Disabled” * Click the “Stop” button and the OK once the service is stopped Turn off Aero * Click on Start and then Control Panel * Click on Appearance and Personalization * Under Personalization, click on “Change the color scheme” * In the Color scheme select box, choose “Windows Vista Basic”. — You can also choose “Windows Standard” for a Win2k interface. * Click OK and after some thinking, Vista will change it’s theme

Is it just me or does the boot time thing a little overblown? I mean I can see where when you're traveling and need to get to some documents or something...but if you're using it at work or home or what not..why not just hit the power button and go do something for a couple min..when you get back everything is loaded. If you sit there and stare while it boots...it seems like forever...just something I was thinking. BTW...should be getting my 2133 tommorow...pretty excited.

I think it depends on what generation you are a member of. Some have been doing the: push start button, make first cup of coffee, start working ... for so many decades it seems to be the "normal way of things". And then there are a few that still recall that it could take 36hours plus to boot a large IBM-360 system.

I trashed the Vista Basic that came with my HP2133 after 3 months of frustration. I read up all the optimization tips for Vista, applied them, and the best I could get for boot up time was 1 min 30 secs. Moved on to install Vista Ultimate but still the same frustration when using it. Not only boot up time sucks but overall experience sucks for Vista. I formatted my HP2133 and installed Win XP Pro on it, and after just some simple tweaks (services tweak, startup tweak and defragment using Diskeeper), my HP2133 boot up in 30 secs flat. Beat that!
