    Default Its My Bios!!

I have a hp 2133 notebook. its running bios version F0.5, the new versionis F.06 i think. bassically i cant install anything because my bios is not supporting ACPI and without that im unable to install any OS. my other problem is the usb wont pick up any device either, so im forced to use pxe. i got far on updatng the bios with pxe but i get an error saying bios is write protected. there is no option in the bios to disable that. How do i now fix the bios so that it has new bios version and supports ACPI?

Didn't I answer this one already?

Still haven't seen your post on what you found when you followed the
    last set of directions.

It is possible that the system management micro-controller has died
but it is impossible to say for certain because I have not seen
your reply to what happened once you edited the root device option.

If I just missed your posted reply, post another link to your reply.

I read what you said but not sure how to go about it so i just took the harddrive out and put it as a slave in my pc then used partioin magic it re partito and reformat te drive. I then decided to install xp as that is what i wont on there. using this guide

    http://blog.ryantadams.com/2008/02/0...nd-windows-pe/

everyting went well until it came to the xp install, i got a blue screen with white writing saying the ACPI is not supported. I dont think there is anything wrong with the drive because i had ubuntu and xp running on there fine at one point, but then after downloading a bois update and installing the update i started to get these problems. I think i acctually downgraded the bios from f.06 to f.05.

Very likely the micro-controller that provides the ACPI features has failed.

Afaict HP will sell spare parts to anyone. It won't be checp though (the mini 2133 motherboard I just looked at was $588.05 I dunno if it's the right one for your machine though). They also do a part exchange deal on broken parts but it's still not cheap.

Best option is probablly to look (and keep looking) on ebay or so.

The cpu and the integrated system chip set are BGA. In addition to being soldered, they have adhesive (epoxy?) mounting. This makes them generally
    not replaceable.

The other parts are SMT and can be replaced by any repair shop that does SMT work.
Do not expect this type of service to be cheap either.

    Your cheap way out -
Sell the lid assembly (complete) to someone who needs a replacement LCD -
    Buy a new machine.
