The point being that you can still get the machine that you seem to want so badly.

    Default Replaced by 2150?

Just did a web-search for the HP 2150 mini-note and got a lot of advanced press on HP dropping the 2140 and releasing a new 2150 sometime late June. May or may not have 3G capability. Also some talk of an 11.1 screen size, as well as a 12" or 13" screen version netbook. I hope the rumor mills are true, as I was all set to get a 2140 with the high resolution and 2g ram, but can't find available anywhere anymore. Hope they continue with the aluminim case. The 2133 and the 2140 were both considered part of HP's business line. Will keep you posted in the coming weeks as things develop.

Found some versions of the 2140 still available thru Tiger Direct or PC Connection on-line.

You can get a HD 2140 from CDW:
    http://www.cdw.com/r.asp?n=15498&cdwEDC=1731550

There are other listings but that is the least expensive w/ HD screen. It also has a 6-cell battery and is priced comporably to the same pre-config model directly from HP, which is no longer available from HP ($449.00 at HP, $456.99 @ CDW).

This particular one is on backorder, so the estimated shipping date is July 10.

The CDW rep said I was about the 50th customer for that 2140 and there are only 100 or so available.

Sad to see HP has discontinued 2140 already. I don't think the HD version has been around for more than 3 months. This has to be the shortest life cycle of a PC I have ever come across.

May be HP is losing money with the 2140. I heard HP saw 20% sell down on business laptops. Some corporates are buying the netbooks to replace regular laptops.

There are rumors on the net about a HP2150 3G being released in June 2009. Perhaps if that is correct the screen will be the HD. Time will tell.

Default Thanks Mike - 2140 REFURB On its Way

Don't you know that the 2140 discontinue happened just as I was getting ready to order. And, the things that are important to me just don't seem to be available on the units that are out there at CDW, Insight and Ebay.

Although I'd been looking at Mike's website link for HP Refurb I didn't see what I wanted there either so I simply called the number listed on the HP Refurb website and voila....I found what I wanted.

Got a 2140 w/ HD screen, XP Pro/Vista option, 160 gb drive and an added bonus of built-in bluetooth! The only uncertainty is the battery. They are apparently unable to confirm 3 or 6 cell so I'll just have to see what arrives. But, for $375 (440 w/ tax & 2 day ship) and a one year warranty I am thrilled.
